Surya Rug Manufacturer Shows Commitment to Indian Workforce

Surya rugs are no longer simply a stylish choice in floor coverings. Now the company also serves as a demonstration of social responsibility, as well. According to a recent article in Furniture Today, Surya has teamed up with Project Mala in order to provide educational opportunities to the children of weavers in Northern India, where Surya’s factories are located.

Project Mala is an international non-profit organization that provides education, health care, nutrition and other services to children without access to resources or facilities. Surya’s contribution will finance education, uniforms, food, medical care, sports and cultural training for 160 students in four classes in two schools. Surya’s president, Satya Tiwari, said that the company is committed to contributing to the well-being of the people who live in the area in which it operates.

Surya also partners with Akshaya Patra, to provide nutritious meals to thousands of Indian children, as well as East Meets West to provide annual scholarships for high school-aged Indian girls.

Area Rugs Club salutes Surya’s commitment to the responsibility of caring for others, and shares that commitment. Area Rugs Club is a proud sponsor of the Santa Monica Chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as ‘The Invisibles’ projects that are devoted to bring awareness of human suffering worldwide.

Area Rugs Club has a large online selection of rugs from Surya and other quality manufacturers. Our selection, along with our fast, friendly customer service, free shipping, and our lowest price guarantee are just some of the reasons Area Rugs Club is America’s favorite online rug store.
